The reverse of the Louisa Adams First Spouse coin depicts Louisa with her son, Charles, in Paris during one of their many difficult trips throughout Europe. The theme for the coin is "Traveling Across Europe," and was designed by AIP Master Designer Thomas Cleveland. John Quincy and Louisa Adams traveled extensively as part of his work as a diplomat for the nascent United States of America.
