This final design is very different than the others, and it proved to be the most popular among the 18 proposed 2010 Lincoln Cent reverses. It depicts a modern-looking sheaf of wheat stalks, a sort of 21 century wheat cent, if you will. I love the fact that the "one cent" is given in numeric form, but I'm not sure what to make of the "One Nation" inscription. I almost feel like "under God" should follow the "One Nation", as given in the Pledge of Allegiance.
In any case, the committees that vet the new coin designs and make recommendations to the U.S. Mint and the Secretary of the Treasury liked this design best of all. Unfortunately, it had to be withdrawn because it is too similar to a German coin issued during the early 20th century. We'll probably end up with one of the U.S. Capitol reverse types.
