This is a coin that has been slabbed by NGC. The hard plastic holder is called the slab.

Definition: Slab is a slang term for a hard plastic case that holds a coin which has been graded and certified by a third-party grading service such as NGC or PCGS. Although technically the slab is the plastic case itself, coins that are encapsulated thus are also referred to as slabs.
Also Known As: encapsulated coin
Examples: He was so afraid of buying a counterfeit coin that he bought nothing but slabs.
