Definition: A dime is a U.S. coin worth 10 cents, or 10/100 of a dollar. The dime takes its name from the French "disme", which was a coin worth 1/10 of a unit in eighteenth century France. The pronunciation of "disme" is exactly the same as we pronounce dime today.
Examples: In the U.S., you need ten dimes to equal one dollar.
