When I teach the Coin Collecting Merit Badge to our local Boy Scouts, I tell the parents that I am teaching them to be "coin collectors" not "coin accumulators." A coin collector has an organized collection with collecting goals in mind. These goals may, and most probably will, change over time. But the organization of the collection will always be part of the collector's mindset. Most coin collectors begin cataloging their collection using a printed "checklist". I have updated both the Beginner's Checklist of United States Coins and the Complete Checklist of United States Coins in order to add the new 2012 coins.

I have a 1939,jeferson nicle.I can find no mint mark on it,was wandering about it sence it was pre-war and should bare a mint mark.
