Die Variety News #11 is Published

Tuesday February 19, 2008
Die variety expert Billy Crawford has recently published the latest issue of his outstanding, lushly photographed, free magazine, Die Variety News. The current issue may be one of his best ever! Besides covering the usual assortment of Presidential Dollar (minor) doubled dies and the latest State Quarter finds, Billy has a nice feature this issue about different "die states." Die states are a fairly advanced concept, and relate to how long a die has been in service before it struck a given coin, but Billy has some nice photos that illustrate the concept for those eager to learn more.

My favorite feature this issue is about multi-hubbing errors. If you think doubled dies are cool, wait until you see Billy's photos of quadruple dies and quintuple dies! This issue also has the popular "This & That" column, where Billy examines coins that people have sent in, and the focus on a particular variety in the "Variety Spotlight" column. Every feature in this magazine is loaded with Billy's large, close-up coin photos that show you the minute details you need to have in order to discover and properly attribute these die variety coins.

Billy very generously makes Die Variety News free in PDF format from his Web site! Be sure to save the current issue to your disk, because they're only available for a limited time. If you're new to Die Variety News, the CD compilation of all 10 past issues is a great buy!

Great magazine. Check out his websit too. You can also send Billy coins to look at for his expert opinion for a VERY SMALL fee.
