Error Coin Prices Featured in Mint Error News #22
Sunday January 27, 2008
Error coin expert Mike Byers has published the latest edition of his fabulous (and free) Mint Error News magazine. Issue number 22 features an in-depth look at Presidential Dollar Proof coin errors, plus a look at the error type called a "capped die" strike. Capped die strikes happen when a coin gets stuck on the coin die and ends up getting struck numerous times, often to the point that the coin turns into a thin cup-shaped piece of struck metal that takes on the general shape of the die itself. The coins which are struck by this covered die are called the capped die strikes. The coin itself that got stuck on the die is called a "die cap" error. These latter are extremely rare, since very few of them escape the Mint's many error-control processes. One of the best features of Mint Error News is Al Levy's price charts. In this issue, he offers the annual error coins price guide in which he provides average selling prices for just about every major error coin type on the market. Additional price coverage includes his Presidential Dollars errors auction prices recap, and auction price recaps for Statehood Quarters including those enigmatic "Extra Leaf" Wisconsin Quarters.
Mint Error News is cram packed full of error coin images, so if you enjoy the eye-candy, grab your free digital copy of Mint Error News right away! As always, I ask my readers to be courteous and save your copy to disk as soon as it finishes loading. Not only will the pages load faster and scroll more quickly, you'll save Mike some expensive bandwidth (not that he's ever complained.)
