Regular visitors to my site might have noticed a new section of links on the right-hand side called "Related Blogs." This is called a "Blogroll Widget" by the technical folks. It has room to list a half dozen or so blogs that I think are worthy of appearing on my site.
Right now, there are only three links there, because I would like to open this subject up for nominations. It's fine for me to pick what I think are the 6 or 7 best blogs, but this is your site, too, so I'd like you to nominate your favorite coin collecting blogs. You can nominate them via the Comments below, or email them to me directly at coins.guide@about.com. Either way, I'll review all of the submissions and add the best 3 or 4 more to my Blogroll.
In the meantime, I would like to draw your attention to the first entry on the list, Coin Collecting Through the Eyes of a Beginner. This blog is kept by my friend and colleague A.C. Dwyer, who collects Type I Double Eagles ($20 U.S. Gold pieces) and has the Number One ranked NGC Registry Set of Type I Double Eagles in the world. That doesn't sound much like a newbie to me, but I love his perspective and philosophy! His current post is a hilarious commentary on the new Presidential Dollars, which I am linking to directly through the "permalink," (to make sure the link shows the post I intend,) but I heartily recommend checking his blog out frequently!
The second blog on my list called, Coin Collecting, the Hobby of Kings, is another blog written with the novice collector in mind. Dan Hersam, the author of this blog and its accompanying Web site, has an engaging voice and several features I'd love to implement myself, including "Tuesday Trivia" quizzes, Q&A from visitors, and other types of excellent coin collecting coverage. Remember Dan, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! ;)
The third blog on my list is Coin Collecting News, also posted by A.C. Dwyer. He finds the most amazing stuff, and this blog is interesting reading. However, in the interest of broadening the scope and not letting anybody monopolize my "Blogroll Widget," I will probably replace this one with one of your nominations, so don't forget to nominate your favorite coin collecting blog via the Comments below!

Seems like there are not too many coin collecting blogs out there. Probably becasue most collectors are older and most bloggers tend to be younger. Thanks for pulling some of the good ones together.
Please consider recommending a new coin blog, Coingrader Forum, at http://coingrader.wordpress.com/
Thanks
I have a question. I own a C.S.A. 5 dollar coin. I’ve tried looking it up and all i could find is that it doesn’t exist. I know it can’t be original b/c under where it says dollars on the back it has the word copy. do you know anything about it?
Great post, thank you. I’d like to share our collaborative website for collectors:

my coin collection
It’s good to find some nice information on coin collecting. For those that may be interested, there’s a site that sells collectible coins and paper money located at Easy Cash Services. Some very nice prices.
I’d like to humbly offer up my own coin collecting blog. I’m in Australia so there tends to be a bit of Australian stuff in there, but I am working on making it more applicable to collectors from anywhere. So why not take a look at my coin collecting blog.

USA Coins Auction Sale
Excellent info.I have been collecting coins for some time and the biggest problem for me is to keep the coins safe from scratches, the grade suffers and the value goes down.Looks like I have to invest in coin holders and a few more coin albums.
I have a 1797 Draped Bust Silver Dollar with 8 stars on the left and 7 on the right. Is this an obvious fake, or were there any 15 stars minted in 1797 ?
Two years already!!! I remember this blog widget like it was last week. Which brings to mind. I’m still waiting for the mint to answer 10 quetions. If i remember, that was way after this one. Like a year! After all the bashing the mint has had lately, we’d be lucky to get the time of day.

Numis Network is pioneering the distribution of silver and gold numismatic coins through network marketing. This is bigger than ground floor! This is first mover advantage. Numis Network is the first company ever to create a comprehensive business to sell silver and gold collector coins through network marketing!
While timing isn’t everything, it sure does help!
Even Jim Cramer, host of CNBC’s Mad Money, is bullish on direct selling, especially during a slowing economy.
“Direct selling is a great model…with high gross margins, low capital intensity, lots of free cash flow,” he said on a recent show. “It’s a fragmented industry with gigantic room for growth”
In an economy that is struggling, the direct selling industry is booming and for a small investment, you too can capitalize on the boom and achieve true financial independence. For more information on our proven business model, visit numisnetwork.com/dewitt

I was recently given a small box of very old coins – including (I’m told) pieces of eight and shillings from Victoria 1 etc. Knowing nothing about coins or their value I’m wondering if someone here could advise me what steps I should follow to sell them?
I loved reading the article, you totally knocked it out of the ballpark! I have sent a link to my dad, and shall definately be returning back for more updates.

Ok, this is kind of weird but I just ran across this YouTube video: Tick Tock Kesha
It’s this chick who calls herself Ke$ha (Yes that’s Keisha with a dollar sign lol) But she’s got this music video called Tic Toc and the lyrics and song are hilarious. It’s kind of a good song actually. At one point she mentions something like “I brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack…” maybe has a drinking problem. Either way check it out and let me know what you think of it. Like it or hate it?
…And is it weird that I got it stuck in my head?
Does anyone know anything about recruiting for this company staffing I have been looking other companies that offer virtual positions. If anyone has info about this please help….
Maybe someone can post me back soon to help me make decision. Thank you

DO NOT deal with LITTLETON COIN COMPANY. THEY are a rippoff!!! They sent me coins to sample and when I didn’t want them they want to force me to pay return shipping and handling. I never ordered these coins. they say I ordered them by buying something from their website. I just didn’t read the small print. THEY ARE THIEVES DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!!!
bill. If a company sends you anything that you did’nt order it is your legal right to keep the items.
My fellow collectors. After going through many, many rolls of circulated Lincoln cents that are zinc I have come to the conclusion that in 20,30 years from now our children will not be able to find 1 decent coin in a roll. Zinc has killled the penny.
AN INSPIRATIONAL WIN FOR CANADA’S 2008 GOLD KILO COIN
Of all the coins, from all the Mints, in all the world that were issued in 2008, there is a true sense of serendipity and fulfillment, that the stunning 2008 Gold kilo coin, struck as part of the Royal Canadian Mint’s 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games series, has been named the “Most Inspirational” in the annual worldwide “Coin of the Year” awards.
While for sheer size and grandeur all of the magnificent Kilo coins in the 2007- 2010 series must surely be winners, it is the thoughtfulness and content of design that makes the 2008 coin uniquely special as it so beautifully captures the sense of Canada’s history in a montage of iconic images.
Canada’s history is inspirational in itself. The early story of the settlement of this vast country with its wealth of wild life and natural resources is a story of the spirit of human endeavor, of faith and of belief.
It is against this backdrop that as host of the 2010 Vancouver Games, Canada proudly displays the richness of its culture on a whole series of commemorative coins depicting everything from an Inukshuk, a uniquely piled stack of marking stones that are part of the Inuit culture, to a design artistically featuring modern Vancouver. Coins vary in denomination from $25 to $2500 and are struck in gold and silver Proof. Today’s pioneering spirit continues in the coins themselves, as the first hologram ever to appear on an Olympic coin, takes its place on a selection of $25 silver Proofs celebrating some of the competition events, while the Royal Canadian Mint’s first ever colored coins feature on a group of gold Proofs depicting the country’s wildlife and heritage.
The Coin of the Year Award is well established in the numismatic world as a standard of excellence for more than twenty-five years. More than fifty judges including mint masters, central bankers, numismatic journalists and scholars from all parts of the world assess the designs. The public is also invited to participate in the final voting.
The 2008 kilo coin, and the whole range of commemorative coins issued ahead of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, can be seen by visiting http://govmint.vancouvercoins.com.
While the 2008 Gold kilo coin has long been sold out, GovMint does have a small quantity of the 2009 and 2010 issues currently available. The 2010 coins have just become available and continue the same themes and same high standards of design.
GovMint, the largest US distributor for the highly successful Beijing 2008 Olympic Summer Games, has become a pre-eminent source for these magnificent coins in the United States, offering a truly exciting range of products to serious collectors and Olympic enthusiasts.
About GovMint

Someone need to have a Blog on Morgan Dollars
Someone I know has a 1917 Liberty Quarter. We looked at it online and it has characteristics of both type one and type two. The front has the bare breast feature and dated 1917 but the reverse has the Eagle with the 3 stars under it which is characteristic of the type two (with the chainmail covered breast and dated 1918). Can you enlighten me on this coin or at point me in the right direction to get the information I am looking for.
A collector can get a wealth of knowledge by reading and participating in good blogs, no matter how many years you have been collecting.
Good info. I have a shoe box or two of old coins that have been passed on to me. I am not a collector, and simply wish to sell them for appropriate value. Any hints or tips from the experienced would be a help. Thanks!
