Strike It Rich With Pocket Change!
Thursday March 15, 2007
With all the interest in error coins recently, I thought this would be a great time to tell you about a fantastic new book about finding valuable error coins right in circulation, called Strike it Rich With Pocket Change. This book was written especially for beginners, and doesn't assume any knowledge at all of coin collecting. It has a few short introductory chapters that explain what you need to look for and how to do it, and then launches into sections, one for each circulating coin type, of wonderful, highly enlarged photos that show you exactly what the error should look like on the coin.As the authors put it, "Have you ever knowingly spent $100 on a candy bar, or $50 on a soft drink? As ludicrous as the concept sounds, there is no doubt that you have unintentionally done this numerous times without even knowing it." Well, you won't be doing it any more if you follow the simple advice in this practical guide to error coins and die varieties that might be in your pocket right now! One of them, the 1969-S doubled die penny, is worth as much as $35,000 in circulated (EF-40) condition!
Strike It Rich With Pocket Change was written by Ken Potter and Brian Allen, both recognized experts in the field of error and variety coins. Even seasoned error coin hunters, who search dozens of rolls of coins a week (not just their change) will find value in Strike It Rich. Potter and Allen list several varieties that have never been previously listed in any other reference. I keep my copy right next to my Cherrypickers' Guides, and reference it often because I love the generously large, close-up photos that Ken Potter is so good at taking.
