Wayne Sayles has recently written the History of Coin Collecting entry for the Encyclopedia Britannica. Have you ever wondered about the history of coin collecting? Coin collecting has been called "the Hobby of Kings" for a reason: only kings can afford to buy all those BU keys! Haha, joking aside, coin collecting is a noble hobby that we can all afford to take part in. Did you know that you can start a U.S. coin collection on just $4?

You might be surprised to learn that collecting coins dates back to ancient times! One of the greatest "kings" of all time, Caesar Augustus, collected coins and often gave them as gifts. The history of coin collecting is a fascinating study, and the Encyclopedia Britannica has recently updated its entry on the subject. Written by important ancient coin collecting advocate and author Wayne Sayles (pictured at right), this Britannica article is being featured on the encyclopedia's main Web page this week. Don't miss your chance to read this wonderful entry about the History of Coin Collecting for free until Saturday, September 16th.
