Have you ever dreamed about designing a circulating U.S. coin? Imagine...everyone in the country holding your art in their hands! Everyone using the image you designed to buy and sell everyday goods! Well, this dream has a very good chance of coming true for the 16 new artists who are selected to join the U.S. Mint's Artistic Infusion Program (AIP.)

The AIP was created as a vehicle to allow American artists from all walks of life to have a chance at designing our coinage. Previous participants in this program have designed coins in the Westward Journey Nickel series, the Statehood Quarter Dollar series, and several other coins yet to be released. This is really an incredible opportunity; I wish I had even a smidgen of artistic talent, because if I did, I would certainly apply!

Artists must apply under one of two classes: established, professional artists are called "Associate Designers," and visual arts students enrolled in degree programs are called "Student Designers." Applications are being accepted until September 15, 2006 for Associates, and October 16, 2006 for Students. Learn more about the U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program and find out how to submit an application.
